"All the world is a laboratory to the inquiring mind."   ~ Martin H. Fischer

We strive to meet our two-year-olds curiosity with  age-appropriate social, physical, and intellectual challenges. Home4Kidz creates settings that make every moment valuable in everything they touch and do.

"Teach the children so it will not be necessary to teach the adults."   ~ Abraham Lincoln

Our three-year-olds are introduced to more structured, age-appropriate learning settings. Children are presented to a variety of theme lessons, hands-on exploration,  also have the opportunity to participate and complete educational learning activities each week.

"Let the child be the scriptwriter, the director, and the actor in his own play."   ~ Magda Gerber

Our four and five-year-olds continue to develop and maintain their basic learning skills which prepare them for a successful transition in Kindergarten. Our lessons plan are focused in the subjects of language and phonics skills, early literacy, arts and crafts, math, science, structured play, manipulatives, fine and gross motor skills, technology, social studies, and music. It is our goal that every child who graduates from our program meet all the criteria as defined by the Howard County Public School System to make ready for kindergarten.

"The trouble with over-structuring is that it discourages exploration." ~ Jay Giedd

Preschoolers aged two to five years are encouraged to learn and discover new things, pay attention to their environment, develop new social and emotional skills, and become independent and supportive of each other.

"Every day, in 100 small ways, our children ask, ‘Do you hear me? Do you see me? Do I matter?’ Their behavior often reflects our response."   ~ L.R. Knost

School-age children aged five and above enjoy the comfort of a home-style atmosphere, the opportunity to care for and assist younger children. They also become role models to their peers and receive one-on-one attention from caring adults.

"Don’t just teach your kids to read, teach them to question what they read. Teach them to question everything."   ~ George Carlin

We absolutely love stories! They have a special place in our hearts. We also have this fun activity called "Once Upon a Time Story" where children can draw items from a bag and create their own narratives. Throughout the day, we read books that complement what we're teaching. Books are a fantastic way to explore new ideas, expand our horizons, and exercise our creativity. They also help children improve their cognitive abilities.

- ACTIVE/OUTDOOR PLAY -

"Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play, children learn how to learn."    ~ O. Fred Donaldson

Our children go outside two times each day weather permitting. Our outdoor play is as important as our inside activities. Our children use outside play to further their curiosity and improve their skills in nature play activities. They also learn to express their ideas, needs, feelings, and thoughts to others during play time. Also, children who regularly go outside to enjoy the sun, fresh air, and exercise tend to sleep better.

It is also important that children get free playtime because it allows them to interact with others, use their creative skills, solve problems, and contribute to their growth and development.

“Children have real understanding only of that which they invent themselves.”    ~ Jean Piaget

Art, Music, science, and large muscle movement activities deepen the children's growth and learning abilities. We plan these activities to correspond to the weekly theme we are exploring or learning. Staying active through music and singing is important to keep our children always moving. Art and Science develop children's curiosity and desires to develop their own imagination and solving problem skills. Whether we are doing art, or practice early writing or math skills, or developing those fine motor skills, we sit down as a team to learn and teach each other. These are the moments we learn to become team players and work as a group.

“If you keep good food in your fridge, you will eat good food.”    ~Errick McAdams

Our meal time is a natural learning opportunity for our children to learn about nutrition, social and table skills, and cleanliness. They develop a positive outlook toward different types of food, participate in independent choices, establish self-esteem, and learn about manners. Small children are encouraged to eat their food with a "practice bite" on their own.

Most meals are served "family style" which promotes self-help, gross motor development skills and children can apply decision-making skills to choose what they want to eat.  We provide delicious morning breakfast, morning and afternoon snacks, and lunch which are prepared freshly every day.
